Screening of wild okra (Abelmoschus esculentus) against yellow vein mosaic and enation leaf curl diseases

چکیده

Okra yellow vein mosaic (OYVMD) and enation leaf curl diseases (OELCuD) are the most important biotic which cause yield quality loss in okra (Abelmoschus esculentus (L.) Moench). Therefore, development of viral resistance varieties lines become breeding objective worldwide. Wild relatives natural source for disease pest resistance. Hence an experiment was conducted at research farm ICAR-Indian Agricultural Research Institute, New Delhi during rainy (kharif) season 2020 screening 24 wild genotypes to identify OYVMD OELCuD okra. PDI (Percent incidence) varied from 3.12–93.72, while ranged 0.00–83.29. The area under progress curve both indicated that rate incidence increasing trend with growth crop. Based on epiphytotic A. moschatus (IC 141055), tetraphyllus 90476-1) caillei (Sikkim) were 3 top different species showed very less no OELCuD. These grouped highly resistant category diseases; other this (EC 360900), 90515 IC 470735). can be used further interspecific programme variety

Fertilizer Requirement for Densely Planted Okra ( Abelmoschus esculentus L . )

A study was conducted at Mahailluppallama, in the Low country Dry zone (DL1b) of Sri Lanka, during Maha (2008/2009) to determine the fertilizer requirement of Okra when planted at closer spacings. Three (03) fertilizer levels (T1DOA recommendation/ plant, 2 DOA recommendation/ unit area and T31 1⁄2 times DOA recommendation/ unit area) were tested using Okra varieties Haritha and Green Tender (F...

Antiadhesive Properties of Abelmoschus esculentus (Okra) Immature Fruit Extract against Helicobacter pylori Adhesion

BACKGROUND Traditional Asian and African medicine use immature okra fruits (Abelmoschus esculentus) as mucilaginous food to combat gastritis. Its effectiveness is due to polysaccharides that inhibit the adhesion of Helicobacter pylori to stomach tissue. The present study investigates the antiadhesive effect in mechanistic detail. METHODOLOGY A standardized aqueous fresh extract (Okra FE) from...

Phenotypic and Molecular Screening of Tomato Germplasm for Resistance to Tomato Yellow Leaf Curl Virus

Tomato yellow leaf curl virus (TYLCV) is a major tomato virus in tropical and subtropical regions. In this study, 134 accessions of Solanum lycopersicum and six accessions of Solanum peruvianum were assessed for resistance to an Iranian isolate of TYLCV. Plants were inoculated using whiteflies (Bemisia tabaci) and the reaction of plants was evaluated based on either disease symptoms or viral DN...

Evaluation of Vegetative Growth Parameters in Biofield Treated Bottle Gourd (Lagenaria siceraria) and Okra (Abelmoschus esculentus)

The objective of the study was to assess the growth contributing characters of biofield treated bottle gourd (Lagenaria siceraria) and okra (Abelmoschus esculentus) seeds. The seeds of both crops were divided into two groups, one was kept aside and denoted as untreated, while the other group was subjected biofield energy treatment. The variabilities in growth contributing parameters were studie...

Biotechnological Advancements and Begomovirus Management in Okra (Abelmoschus esculentus L.): Status and Perspectives

Despite the importance of okra, as one of the important vegetable crop, very little attention has been paid to its genetic improvement using advanced biotechnological tools. The exploitation of marker assisted breeding in okra is often limited due to the availability of a few molecular markers, the absence of molecular genetic-map(s), and other molecular tools. Chromosome linkage-groups were no...
